IFBB Professional bodybuilder, Jason Arntz, given five year suspended sentence for steroids

A South Brunswick bodybuilder received a five-year suspended prison sentence today for supplying a pill press to a steroid-manufacturing and distribution ring in the Hanovers and Florham Park in Morris County in 2007.

Jason Arntz, 38, was among 16 people arrested in March 2007 after a four-month probe centering on co-defendants Anthony Cuppari and his best friend, Michael Dente, both bodybuilders of East Hanover.

The scheme involved Dente manufacturing anabolic steroids in his basement, authorities have said. Arntz pleaded guilty in January to third-degree conspiracy to manufacture steroids, by supplying a pill press to Dente knowing he would use the machine to make capsules of the muscle-enhancing drug.

TruePeptides.com pulling advertising from Internet, site taken down
    by Anthony Roberts

TruePeptides.com is under the impression that their business is being watched by the Feds, and as a result, have opted to pull their banners and advertising off numerous sites, and have taken their website down as well. I don’t know if they’ve been arrested or busted, but with the PurePeptides.com bust being within the last half year, and with them advertising on many of the same sites, it’s certainly possible.

They seem to have been using a bi-state business model, involving both New Jersey and Florida. The recently busted peptide site, PurePeptides.com was similarly owned by a man who had lived in both of those states. I am currently unsure if they were connected in any way other than these coincidences, but it seems likely that they were/are.

    Gatorade GNC Partnership
    by Scott Welch

Gatorade which is a division of PepsiCo, is launching G Series Pro — a new variant of its recently launched G Series through a distribution alliance with GNC. I heard of this news while I was at The Arnold Classic promoting my new bodybuilding magazine MUSCLE INSIDER. G Series Pro was originally developed by The Gatorade Sports Science Institute to meet the needs of professional and aspiring professional athletes. Until now, G Series Pro has only been available in locker rooms and specialized training facilities. Beginning May 1 it will be available to a broader segment of elite athletes. The range will be distributed initially through an exclusive co-marketing and co-distribution collaboration with GNC and its network of more than 5500 outlets nationwide.

Gregg Valentino Book a Sure Best-Seller
    by Joe Pietaro

Love him or hate him, Gregg Valentino sure has made a name for himself in the bodybuilding industry. There are a class of folks who have made it no secret that they dislike the native New Yorker and that he gives the sport a bad name, but these are the people that know nothing about Valentino other than what they have read on the various Internet forums.

His “Ramblin’ Freak” column in Muscular Development magazine only gives the reader a taste of what Valentino is really like, but behind that persona lives a man who differs greatly from the facade seen every month. Behind the tree trunk-size arms and funny jokes lives a very intelligent man who appreciates every day he has after what he went through. And make no mistake about it, Valentino does not try to pass the buck. He freely admits that there is no one to blame for his troubles than himself and put his private life out in the open in his new book, “Death, Drugs and Muscle” (2010, ECW Press).

Phil Heath Leading After Pre-Judging, But Kai Greene Makes it Two Straight Arnold Classics
    by Joe Pietaro

As the War Memorial was emptying out and the competitors wound down in the Brehm Pump Up room, the judges went over their scoresheets for the afternoon prejudging at the 2010 Arnold Classic. The top six would be calculated, as well as who sat in what placing heading into the evening’s Finals.

Kai Greene came into the show as the defending champion and favorite, but was actually trailing Phil Heath, 10-7. Both men looked good enough to win, but Heath’s conditioning appeared to be a little sharper than Greene’s.

As the day turned into night, the winner hung in the balance. There were four men who had a legitimate shot, including Dexter Jackson (16) and Branch Warren (19) also close enough to have something to say. When the six names were announced after the posing routines for all 13 participants concluded, Toney Freeman and Ronny Rockel were also added to the mix.

Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010, S. 3002

McCain withdraws support for his own Bill!

From nutritional supplement consumers to supplement companies, the entire industry has been up in arms about the so-called Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010, S. 3002, introduced to Congress by Senator McCain. Well, the Senator himself has withdrawn support of his own Bill, after he became the target of a grassroots campaign to stop the Bill from being passed. He has thus far failed to publicly comment on the withdrawal of support for his own Bill, and by all accounts, it is likely dead and buried.

A letter from Senator Orin Hatch, the man who sponsored the Dietary Supplement Health Education Act (DSHEA) to McCain has been posted online, indicating that the Bill will not be passed in its current form.

McCain himself has not yet made any public statements to this effect. however, a letter from Senator Orin Hatch (R-UT) to McCain has been posted on the McCain senate website and indicates the current bill is dead. There is, however, the potential for a compromise Bill with Hatch, so the supplement industry is not out of the woods yet. Not too long ago, then-Senator Biden managed to pass an anti-drug bill (called the Rave Act) by tagging it onto the Amber Alert laws (inexplicably).

McCain is certainly not above similar tactics, and this situation needs to be watched closely. Now is not the time for a victory lap, it’s a time for renewed vigilance.

Arnold, Stallone Crown Iris Kyle Ms. International
    by Joe Pietaro

Winning an unprecedented fifth Ms. International title hung in the balance as four of the top six took their place to the side of the stage, leaving Yaxeni Oriquen-Garcia and Iris Kyle alone. Both women have been dominant in their sport, especially in Columbus with four wins apiece.

As the crowd awaited Lonnie Tepper’s announcement on who would be the runner-up, both women had a moment and exchanged a few words. “We said congratulations, we both look great and we love each other,” Kyle recalled.

Burn The Fat HOLY GRAIL Promo Launches Today

Almost everyone knows about the biggest loser -
that reality show/ wt loss contest on TV where
    overweight people drop ridiculous amounts
of weight – like 15 or 20 lbs in a week, and
150 or 200 lbs by the time the show is over.

This past January the guys at over at the Burn the Fat
websites completed their first ever body transformation
    challenge contest.

But their contest was NOTHING like the biggest loser.

In fact, Josh Ketter, the overall men’s winner, and Ryan
Cochrane, one of the finalists, only lost a pound.

Now, you must be thinking, “what the heck kind of weird
body transformation contest were they running where the
winner and the finalists only drop a pound?

CytoSport – Maker of Muscle Milk Is Up For Sale

CytoSport, the maker of Muscle Milk, is up for sale, according to two sources claiming knowledge of the situation. Benicia, California-based CytoSport hired Goldman Sachs to run an auction that began about a month ago, one of the sources said. A spokesperson for CytoSport had no immediate comment.

CytoSport is in exclusive talks with PepsiCo, one of CytoSport’s distributors, said the first source claiming knowledge. If PepsiCo passes on it, other buyers like Nestle SA could be interested, the source said. A spokesperson for PepsiCo declined comment.
